Welcome to the Union County Recorder’s Office web page. The Recorder's office is located on the second floor of the Union County Courthouse.  

The County Recorder is a Constitutional officer elected to a four year term (IC 36-2-11). As a Constitutional officer, the Union County Recorder is prohibited from serving more than eight consecutive years in a twelve year period. Ideally, this web page will provide the public insight on the services available in the Recorder’s office as well as keep the public informed and up to date on most efficient  way to conduct business within the office. The office strives to provide fast and accurate services that are cost efficient and customer friendly. The County Recorder is also responsible for the preservation of public records entrusted within the office and serves as the Sectary of the Union County Public Records Commission.

 

**Disclaimer on Public Searches**

The Recorder’s Staff will not search public records or give any legal opinion. If you know the recording information, you may request a copy from our office. Otherwise, you may come in and use one of our public access computers.

 

Hours of operation

The office is open Monday – Friday 8:00 A.M. 4:00 P.M, closed 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. for lunch.

E-Recording in Union County

There are multiple benefits to e-recording. E-Recording can save your business time, money, and provide a convenience service to ensure faster processing of recorded documents resulting in a quicker turnaround time beneficial to the submitter. Documents arrive instantly to the office once submitted verse spending days in the mail arriving to the office and returning. Another plus, all rejected submissions can be resubmitted in hours vs. days. The office accepts all nontransferable documents electronically through the Simplifile and CSC.  

Currently the county is not accepting deeds, affidavits, etc., electronically.
